Mindful Swedish artist Gaeya announces new EP ‘Growth’

Swedish Earth Music artist Gaeya has announced her new EP Growth, arriving on June 19th for the Midsummer celebrations.

Marking the announcement she has released her brand new single ‘Higher Ground’. The soaring optimistic song marries captivating ethereal synths with a commanding tribal rhythm, alongside wide-reaching vocals from Gaeya highlighting the journey for positive change.

Released today on April 30th, in line with the ancient festival of Walpurgis Night, ‘Higher Ground’ calls upon a cleansing of the world’s current catastrophic trends for the need of a safe and healthy future, while also marking a rebirth in Gaeya’s musical journey.

The video has been filmed on Mount Teide in Tenerife where Gaeya performs around its raw, ancient power. She uses Teide to symbolise not to suppress what we feel, but to take responsibility for it, to channel that force into growth, rather than destruction.

“Fire is one of the most powerful forces of transformation,” Gaeya begins. “By burning away the old, we create fertile ground from the ashes—soil rich with the nutrients needed for what is yet to come. This is why ‘Higher Ground’ is released during the ancient spring fire festival—known as Walpurgis Night, Beltane, or Valborg—a sacred turning point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. A time to welcome the light and set intentions for the future.

Reconnecting with these ancient traditions brings us back into rhythm with nature’s cycles, helping us better understand our own cycles of growth—both as individuals and as a collective. We are living through a time of profound transformation. Humanity stands at a threshold.

For me, ‘Higher Ground’ is about facing what no longer belongs. It is about having the courage to move through fear - to release the past, to let go, and step forward onto new ground. Even in the darkest moments, whether in the world or within ourselves, we always have a choice. A choice to release what is no longer aligned with our path. A choice to turn toward what is good. To choose love. To choose something new.”

The forthcoming Growth EP builds upon the acclaimed Awakening EP in 2021. Released during the pandemic, Awakening symbolised the first wave of awareness that many people experienced—a moment of questioning: What do I truly want from my life?

Gaeya says, “That period left a deep imprint, and in many ways, the process has continued. The world we live in today is still asking us to make choices—inviting us, and sometimes pushing us, to grow. With Growth, my hope is to offer support along that path.

Growth is about a journey we all move through at some point in life—the path of re-alignment. Often, the times when we grow the most are not the ones that feel the easiest or most pleasant. Yet it is precisely through these moments of challenge that we gain the tools and inner strength to meet ourselves and the world with new awareness. When we choose to learn from what we go through, rather than remain stuck in it, something within us begins to shift.

Life moves in cycles, and to me, Growth represents the second phase—the stage that unfolds just before a deeper transformation, a paradigm shift.”

The Growth EP is a perfect paring of past and present, finding Gaeya pulling from the sonics of her Nordic ancestry, while propelling sounds into the future with a rich tapestry of electronics produced by Anders Rane.

‘Different In My Time’ leads with an enthralling chant from Gaeya inspired by the ancient joik singing of the Sámi people and the sounds of kulning, the ancient heard call in the Nordics. She then delivers the determined message in English of “It’s different in my time”as euphoric synths develop.

The following ‘Emptiness’ is a lush synth pop track focused on forging development and the EP closes with ‘The Lucky Ones’, a glorious glacial pop track which pushes for progressive change and acceptance that the power is in our hands, with our responsibility to create the brighter future.
